Secure Horizons Insurance
|
Medicare is health insurance for those over age 65, and it is funded by tax dollars. Medicare plan choices vary depending on a person’s health care needs, and include prescription drug coverage and Medicare’s Advantage Plan. Each plan is managed by either a private or public sector company, and one of these providers is Secure Horizons, which is a division of the United Health Group. The Secure Horizons insurance plan is the third of four parts of Medicare (there are parts A, B, C, and D). Advantage plans were not part of the original Medicare program signed into law in 1965, but the plan has undergone two revisions since that time. In 1997, Medicare Advantage was added, allowing Americans on Medicare to get care through a private insurer. Medicare Advantage plans provide people with health insurance where they may not have been able to get it otherwise; for instance, a person who leaves the workforce for good before they reach 65, or someone who is aging and needs additional assistance. Secure Horizons Medicare Advantage plans cover a wide segment of the population, and anyone over 65 or who is disabled can apply. Every year, over forty million Americans get their health care through Medicare or Medicare Advantage, and the numbers are rising, with over 77 million people on Medicare by 2031. Secure Horizons insurance plans provide a full complement of Medicare benefits, and each month, the government pays a portion of the premium. With a plan from Secure Horizons, the vast majority of people can get all their health services in one place. Because the plan is available nationwide, there’s no standard premium, and prices can vary. Medicare Advantage plans through Secure Horizons come with their share of problems, as does the general Medicare program. Like many other businesses, Medicare is feeling the pinch of a sluggish economy, and often needs additional government assistance. The quality of some plans has also been called into question, because some private providers have been giving their customers false information.
