The Motorola XT720 Motoroi has come to the shores of Asia. It is fairly heavily featured for being a model that is not that well known. Read here for some of the features on the Motorola XT720 Motoroi. This is the smartphone that Motorola brought to Asia, specifically South Korea. It is the first of their smartphones to sell in Asia with the android operating system. This is a simple looking smartphone with the characteristic handle ( for lack of a better term ) on the side to help keep it in your hand. It is 116 millimeters tall by 60.9 millimeters wide by 10.9 millimeters thick. For readers from the United States, that is 4.5 inches tall by 2.4 inches wide by .43 inch thick. That is very thin for all the features that are packed into the Motorola XT720 Motoroi. The internals are all controlled by the android operating system created by the search engine Google. This is a popular software that has been recently upgraded to be faster. The Motorola XT720 Motoroi is running the slower 2.1 version though. It should be upgraded soon. Android is catching on well in the United States, since it is free. This release into Nokia territory should be an interesting feat to watch. The camera is a large feature on the Motorola XT720 Motoroi. It is cranked up to the eight megapixel level. That is enough to shoot high definition video in 720p format. The camera is also equipped with xenon flash, auto focus, image stabilization and geo tagging. There is no word on if the geo tagging feature can be turned off for security. The video takes shots at 24 frames per second, which is a bit slow compared to other smartphones from Motorola. There is no secondary camera for video conferencing. The display on the Motorola XT720 Motoroi is just a bit above average. It has a nice resolution of 480 by 854 pixels. It is also using the older LCD technology. It supports 16 million colors, which is the maximum. The size of the screen is 3.7 inches. It is given a load of features such as; multi touch input, touch sensitive navigation, accelerometer and a proximity sensor for turning the screen off during a call. A Motorola XT720 Motoroi owner will be able to use this smartphone to hook up to Wi-Fi and a host of other wireless networks. Some of those other data networks include EDGE, GPRS, HSDPA at 10.2 megabytes per second and bluetooth. A decent web browser is included with the android software. Motorola threw in a FM radio for good measure. For wired external connections there is a Micro USB connector and a 3.5 head phone jack for privacy. For those who like their games, the Motorola XT720 Motoroi has the all-important Java software. This will allow you to download and play popular mobile games when you have time to kill. The battery on the XT720 is 1390 mAh of power which equals out to eight hours and 40 minutes of talk time. If you want this in colors other than black, forget it. Motorola must be on the Goth tour. This smartphone is not just released in South Korea. It is also in Canada and Europe under a different name. It is priced at £381.88 pounds in Britain. | |
