LG Vortex

The new LG Vortex is almost ready for release. This is the splitting image of another smartphone called the Optimus One which is also from LG. It is a midrange handset with a different feature. Look a little deeper into the LG Vortex here in this informative article.

This is a smartphone with a different name. LG named it the Vortex seemingly because it fills a void. It uses android but also uses Bing, the MSN search engine for searches. This smartphone is not all that expensive, so it does not have a truckload of expensive features. The size is average with many other smartphones. It is just a tad smaller than an iPhone in screen size.

Speaking of the screen, the LG Vortex is equipped with a 3.2 inch display. There is no word on if it is an AMOLED or a LCD yet, but looking at the sister model, it is likely to be an AMOLED. It will definitely be a touch screen and the resolution will be 240 by 320 or 320 by 480 pixels. Its sister model is the latter. It will likely also have a proximity sensor for turning the display off when calls are being made. Accelerometers are nearly standard on any smartphone these days. The LG Vortex will definitely have one.

The LG Vortex is going to be on the Verizon network. They have arranged the operating system on the Vortex to use android and Bing search at the same time. This seems like a conflict of interest, but nevertheless, it is so. A deal was made with Verizon and Microsoft for search, so those who get a LG Vortex will have to deal with this. When using the LG Vortex the big search bar from Bing is displayed on the screen for MSN services. This will include maps from Bing. The rest of the operating system is android which is included in the 2.2 Froyo version. It is a bit faster than the last 2.1 version and includes tethering. Currently tethering is an extra $20 dollars a month with Verizon.

The camera on the LG Vortex is claimed to be a three megapixel picture snapper. There will not be a secondary camera. The primary camera will have auto focus, but no flash.  The video is present but is only going to run at 18 frames per second. The audio section is not going to include a FM radio like some had reported. The good news on audio is that the smartphone has a 3.5 millimeter head phone jack.

The LG Vortex should come equipped with Wi-Fi and HSDPA wireless data networks. The 600 megahertz processor will be pumping away to make the information move as fast as possible. If you are a gamer, this handset will feature Java for all the cool games. For some reason LG gave the sister model, the Optimus One a 1500 mAh battery. This is huge, and if the LG Vortex has this size you will be able to talk for an extended amount of time. Since this is a newly announced smartphone there is no news on prices or dates, just that it will be on the Verizon “Big Red” network.
